Man in serious condition and one arrest made after violence in Cambridge city centre




One man in his hospital with serious injuries and another has been arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm after a fight broke out in Cambridge city centre.

Cambridgeshire police said it is not believed weapons were involved in the incident, which happened on Thursday afternoon in St Andrew’s Street.

A Cambridgeshire police spokesperson said: “We were called at about 1.15pm yesterday (October 5) with reports of violence involving two men in St Andrew’s Street, Cambridge.

“No weapons are thought to have been involved, but a man in his 20s was taken to hospital with serious injuries. His condition is not deemed life-threatening.

“A 39-year-old man from Ely was arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm. He has been released on bail until January 6.”
