The 31-year-old was previously charged with knife offences in February 2022 and March 2023.

Berna, of no fixed address, admitted carrying the knife at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court today (29 February).

He also pleaded guilty to assaulting a shop worker at the Co-Op in Milton Road on 18 November and stealing a milkshake and a bike from Trinity Hall College on 2 November.

He was sentenced to 32 weeks in prison.

PC Rob Tindall, from the Cambridge city neighbourhood team, said: “Some people think that carrying a knife provides them with protection. What it actually does is put them, their friends and family in danger and increase the chances of being hurt.”
