Mental health the focus for 66km Head to Toe run at Ely Tri Club Run Fest

Fundraiser William Coulet is to tackle a 66km run in around eight hours during the Ely Tri Club Run Fest on Sunday (September 26).

The challenge is to raise awareness for people suffering with mental health and to raise money for the Head to Toe mental health charity. William, who is originally from the Netherlands, is running in memory of his brother, Geoffrey.

Norfolk resident William, 38, says the reasons for him doing it are two-fold: “My brother passed away, partially related to mental health issues. That was quite a few years ago so I’ve learned to live with that. A lot of people obviously are struggling at the moment and resources are very much stretched so I wanted to raise awareness, and funds, for that cause because I think it’s always overshadowed.

“If you have a broken leg, it’s easily fixed but mental health it’s obviously very much more complex. The other reason is I enjoy running and I’ve been pushing the boundaries – I’ve never run a distance like this.”

William hopes to raise around £100 for each kilometre he runs. Visit his JustGiving page at bit.ly/3hrLyiV.
