Mill Road Winter Fair 2024 in Cambridge cancelled due to Storm Darragh warnings

Mill Road Winter Fair, which was due to take place on Saturday (7 December), has been cancelled due to storm warnings.

The organisers said they had made the decision “with great regret” following forecasts of high winds and heavy rain.

In a statement, the organisers, The Mill Road Winter Fair Committee and Planning Group, said on Thursday (5 December): “With great regret, due to Storm Darragh, where wind speeds are predicted to reach 60mph, in addition to rain, organisers have taken the difficult decision to cancel Mill Road Winter Fair on Saturday 7th December.

“All Mill Road Winter Fair activities have been cancelled and Mill Road will remain open.

“The predicted level of wind and rain expected during the fair is above the limits to ensure the safety of our attenders, volunteers, stallholders and other participants such as our parades, stages, buskers and dancers.

“Following a year of planning and the involvement of so many volunteers, community groups and local businesses, this is a bitter disappointment and a huge financial blow, but our first responsibility is to the safety of our beloved Mill Road community.

“This decision has been necessary now in order to allow us time to communicate effectively with all the involved groups as well as the public likely to attend.”
