New douce hair salon aims to be a cut above in Eddington, Cambridge

The douce mobile hair salon celebrated the opening of its new concept store in Eddington last Saturday (December 3).

douce is the creation of Lucy Benton’s brother-in-law Phil Benton, who started it in 2017 in a small American airstream trailer, moving around locations in Cambridgeshire and London. A year later, he opened a second airstream in London.

Now nearly six years later, after winning a number of awards, the company has opened its third salon. The site also boasts a bar, café and retail offering.

Lucy, who manages the salon and whose husband Nick is the bar manager, said of the weekend’s launch event: “We had guests all throughout the evening. From 4pm to 11pm, when we were open, we probably had about 300 people.”
