Hailed as “the heroes British rock needs right now” by the Huffington Post, the band will be bringing their catchy tunes and rocky riffs to The Portland Arms on Monday, October 8.

The Scottish four-piece released their debut album, Paper Heart, in 2017 and recently put out their latest single, Chemical.

Singer Will Irvine, who grew up in the Scottish Highland village of Achiltibuie, said: “Strangely, I was born in Cambridge, but I spent my whole life growing up in the Highlands of Scotland.

“I’ve only really been back to Cambridge to play one gig, I think, which was at the Portland Arms last November. It was a great night – a really small venue but rammed full and sold out in advance, which was nice.”

When Will spoke to the Cambridge Independent, the band were in London working on the video for Chemical.

Will the single be on a forthcoming album? “I don’t think so,” says the singer. “We released our first album last year and it went better than we could ever have hoped.

“We did it completely DIY; we did 10 songs, 10 videos over 10 months. When we started we foolishly thought, ‘This will be really chilled’, but it was an absolute mission.

“But we managed it and it took us to a different level of being able to play much bigger headline gigs and the big festivals suddenly were all asking us to come and play.

“So these singles [Chemical and its predecessor, Electric] have just been a ‘keep the ball rolling’ kind of thing. We want to keep releasing music as often as we can.”

Will added: “Album number two, in terms of that we haven’t really sat down and had the crunch talk to say, ‘Right, when are we going to do it?’

“We definitely are going to do it and we’re going to do it as soon as we can. We’ll get this tour out the way and then assess where we’re at and what songs we’ve got.”

7.30pm, Monday, October 8, The Portland Arms. Tickets £15.50 adv.
