New Sainsbury’s Local opens in Hobson Square, Cambridge
Sainsbury’s Cambridge Hobson Square Local has opened its doors, with colleagues and customers gathering to celebrate and cut the ribbon.
The 2,972 sq ft shop, in a Trumpington community, opened its doors last Thursday (March 2). It will be open from 7am to 11pm every day.
The 15 colleagues that make up the new store team, 10 of which are new to Sainsbury’s, will play an active role in the local community while also taking part in Sainsbury’s nationwide charitable programmes and initiatives.
For example, through Sainsbury’s partnership with Neighbourly, the new Local will work with local food donation partners to help ensure that any surplus food from the store will go to those who need it most.
Dan Budgell, store manager at Sainsbury’s Cambridge Hobson Square Local, said: “It’s been great to cut the ribbon and open our new store and we’re excited to welcome customers for the first time.
“It’s important to us that we play an active role in the local community and we’re looking forward to getting to know it now our store is open.”
