The road will be temporarily closed between the Leper Chapel and Ditton Walk from 8pm on Saturday until 8am on Sunday.

The underpass will allow the Chisholm Trail to link from Ditton Meadows to Coldhams Common.

When completed the underpass will mean those using the Chisholm Trail will not have to use a pelican crossing to cross Newmarket Road.

A spokesman for the Greater Cambridge Partnership added: “A contingency date has been allocated between 8pm on Sunday, June 6 until 8am on Monday, June 7 to allow for any unexpected delays.”
