Owner left ‘heartbroken’ after three dogs are stolen from kennels in South Cambridgeshire village
Three dogs - one of which is heavily pregnant - have been stolen from kennels in South Cambridgeshire, leaving the owners “utterly heartbroken”.
A pedigree white Maltese terrier, a female sprocker spaniel and a pregnant Jack Russell were taken from the kennels in the garden of a home in Cambridge Road, Wimpole, between 3.30pm and 5.30pm on Wednesday, May 25.
Police believe a chain was cut to the main gates of the house and access gained to the garden.
Sgt Tom Nuttall said: “The owner of these dogs is utterly heartbroken and very worried about the welfare of the dogs, especially given that one of them is heavily pregnant.
“I would like to hear from anyone with information about this theft.
“In particular, if anyone has seen these dogs for sale online or saw anything suspicious in the Wimpole area on Wednesday between 3.30pm and 5.30pm, I would encourage them to get in-touch with the police as soon as possible.”
There was a noticeable spike in dog thefts in 2021, prompting police warnings to owners to be alert.
