Paedophile from Cambridge who tried to groom girls continued to offend after arrest
A paedophile from Cambridge who tried to groom girls even after being arrested and bailed for previous offences has been jailed.
Jason White, 33, of Eagle Street, was reported to police by the first victim’s mother in September after she discovered he had been messaging her daughter online.
White had claimed he was 15 years old and asked the girl for an inappropriate photograph and then admitted his true age.
He continued to complement her and asked her for another picture, before suggesting they could be partners.
White sent her an inappropriate photo and the conversation ended.
He was arrested and bailed on 16 September but continued to offend. On December 11, he was reported to police by an online child activist group that had set up a decoy pretending to be a 14-year-old girl.
White, who was using a fake name on a Facebook profile, again claimed to be a 15-year-old boy but just after the conversation began, admitted he was 33.
He requested a relationship and asked about meeting in Cambridge or Brighton.
He sent another inappropriate picture of himself and was arrested on 17 December.
The online child activist group told officers White had engaged in another sexual conversation with a decoy posing as a 13-year-old girl and sent an inappropriate picture of himself on 15 December.
White was jailed on 31 January for 23 months, after pleading guilty to inciting a girl aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity (no penetration), and two counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.
He was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register, given a restraining order against the victim and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, each for 10 years.
Det Con Rosie McKenzie said: “The fact White continued to offend on bail shows he is a danger to children so it’s good news he’s now behind bars.
"This case is a good example that people aren't always who they claim to be online.
“Child sexual abuse can be devastating for the victims and their families, and we will do everything in our power to put abusers in front of the courts.”
