Parkside parents pull out the stops to raise funds for 30 Chromebooks
Parents of Parkside Community College have raised £6,931 to buy pupils a 'Trolley of Tech' in the shape of 30 Chromebook laptops.
The high-tech charging trolley will support children with their humanities and languages classes.
Headteacher Jodh Dhesi said: “Not all children have access to mobile phones and tablets, contrary to popular belief, so to be able to offer them this technology to help their learning is such a bonus.
“I’d like to thank all the parents, families and friends who took part in raising funds this year, which are particularly welcomed when resources are stretched. What a fantastic community of parents, families and friends we have at Parkside.”
Co-chair of the school’s PTA, Mandy Williams, added: “The school community has pulled out all the stops to raise the funds for this project. They’ve supported twice-monthly uniform sales, quizzes, wine tastings, art fairs, regular parent evenings, local events and more – and hopefully having some fun along the way. Rallying to provide valuable, targeted support to enhance student education at Parkside is just what the PTA has aspired to do.”
