Person dies on railway line near Cambridge North station




A person has died on the railway line near Cambridge North station this afternoon (Wednesday).

Network Rail said all lines between Cambridge and Ely are closed as emergency services respond to the incident.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to the line near Cambridge North railway station at around 2.45pm today (22 January) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Disruption is expected on the line until the end of the day. Specific train service alterations are available at journeycheck.com/greateranglia or greatnorthernrail.com/service-updates.
