Person hit by train on line between Cambridge and Newmarket




A person has been hit by a train on the railway line between Cambridge and Newmarket.

Greater Anglia has said train services through those stations “may be cancelled, delayed or revised”, with disruption expected until 5pm today (Wednesday May 26).

Trains are unable to run between Kennett and Cambridge and Ipswich to Cambridge services will be diverted to start and terminate at Ely.

Following the incident, which happened before 12pm, Greater Anglia said in an update at 2.11pm: “Greater Anglia tickets are being accepted on Great Northern services between Ely and Cambridge. A rail replacement bus service is in operation between Bury St Edmunds and Cambridge North, serving Newmarket and Dullingham.

“Greater Anglia and Network Rail are sorry if your journey has been affected by this disruption.

“Advance purchase tickets holders will be allowed to travel on earlier or later trains if their booked service is cancelled.
