Police hunt driver who failed to stop after collision that left 15-year-old scooter rider in Cambourne with serious injuries

Police are seeking the driver of a car that failed to stop after a collision that left a 15-year-old scooter rider with serious injuries in Cambourne.

The silver Audi A4 was later found partially burnt out in Highfields Road, Highfields Caldecote.

Emergency services were called to Back Lane in Cambourne, close to the junction with Sterling Way, at about 9pm on Tuesday (5 March).

The boy, who had been riding a non-electric scooter, was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge following the collision.

Sgt Mark Atkins, from the road policing unit, said: “The teenage boy has been left with serious injuries and I am appealing for witnesses to come forward.

“If anyone has any dashcam or video doorbell footage of the collision then that would be very helpful for our investigation.

“Also, if anyone saw or has dashcam footage of the Audi in the Cambourne or Highfields Caldecote areas at about 9pm yesterday evening, I would also like to hear from them.”

Anyone with information or dashcam footage should report it through the force website using reference 35/15791/24.
