Police investigate early hours ram raid at Bassingbourn shop




A village shop was rammed with a telehandler and two cars in the early hours of this morning.

Officers are investigating the ram raid at the Spar shop in Bassingbourn High Street.

Police were called at 3.33am today (Friday, October 13) following reports of a ram raid.

Two stolen cars and a telehandler, which was left at the scene, were used in the incident.

A police spokesperson said: “A group of at least three men targeted the ATM at the store using two stolen vehicles – a Mitsubishi L200 stolen last night and an Audi RS6, also stolen from our county. The group also used a stolen telehandler.

“We remain in the area this morning, a scene is in place to preserve evidence and investigations are ongoing.”
