Police are hunting arsonists who set fire to tonnes of straw bales in Cambridgeshire.

Two crews from Cambridge, and one each from Cottenham, Ely, Soham, along with water carriers from Ramsey and Newmarket, were called to a stack fire on Plantation Gate, Stretham on Friday October 5, at 6.25pm,

The crews arrived to find a stack containing 300 tonnes of baled straw well alight and they worked overnight to extinguish the fire using jets.

The cause of the fire was deliberate. Anyone with information should contact police by visiting https://www.cambs.police.uk/ to submit an online report or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
