Christmas Shoebox Appeal for Ukraine’s children
An appeal for Christmas shoebox-size gifts to brighten the holiday season for children living in war-torn Ukraine has been launched by the Polish Women of Cambridge.
The group of Cambridge residents standing in solidarity with the people of Ukraine has asked for gifts to be dropped off at Together Cambridge, 5 Fitzroy Street, between noon and 5pm on weekdays.
“We need your heartwarming contributions,” said Aggy Rutkowskam, one of the organisers.
“What can you put in the Christmas shoeboxes? Items include toys, hygiene essentials, warm clothes accessories (hats, gloves, socks, etc), school supplies, sweet treats, and maybe a fun surprise gift.”
The advised budget is up to £15.
The appeal is a collaboration with the Polish NGO, the Remembrance Foundation (Fundacja Znaki Pamięci), which has worked with Polish Women of Cambridge on previous delivery projects.
“We assure you that your generosity reaches directly, as shown in the recent November transport photos,” says Aggy, who adds: “We are Cambridge residents standing in solidarity with the people of Ukraine, providing help through humanitarian aid, fundraising, and career support since the conflict’s escalation.
“Join us in this mission to bring smiles and hope to the children of Ukraine. Help us make a difference this Christmas!”
Please label the gift with the intended child’s gender and age group (0-2, 3-5, 6-9, 10-14).
