Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn MP helped launch his party's campaign for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough mayor with candidate Cllr Kevin Price.

The pair visited the city council’s Water Lane housing development in Cambridge on Saturday.

Mr Corbyn, who was labelled a ‘disaster’ for the party by Cambridge physicist Prof Stephen Hawking this week, said: “It was fantastic to see this state-of-the-art housing development delivered by the Labour-run council in Cambridge.

“As well as leading on the building of new council homes in Cambridge, Kevin led the negotiations which have secured a huge further investment in housing across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

“That’s why he’s best placed to be mayor of the new combined authority.”

Cllr Price, who is also the deputy leader of Cambridge City Council, said: “I want this to be one of many cutting edge housing developments across the area, funded by the devolution deal I helped to negotiate.”
