The event, which runs from 10.30am to 1.30pm tomorrow (Saturday, January 29) in front of the former Cooperative Bank, is designed to strike up conversations among neighbours about the redevelopment of ‘The Kite’ area and what it will achieve for local residents and those who frequently use its services.

The group, which wants to create gallery spaces and studios from unusable stores, say it is a timely conversation given the pending sale of The Grafton centre. Local artist Samuel Benjamin Harris has made an eight foot-tall blackboard mirroring the shape of The Kite as it appears on maps.

The stories and ideas collected will help to shape a series of community conversations that Together Culture will host at Cambridge Junction this spring. Together Culture founder Heather Thomas said: “I love living in The Kite because I am always meeting people who have fascinating stories and gobs of creativity to share.

“Cambridge is better equipped than many cities to transform itself into a more equitable and ecological place.”
