Remembrance 2023: Poignant knitted tribute tops Cambridgeshire postbox

A circle of knitted poppies – with knitted soldier’s boots and a helmet perched on top – has been placed on the postbox in the village of Newton.

Lou Peden, the main talent behind the work, said she found the image to be moving and was glad that other people felt the same as the country prepares to mark Remembrance Sunday this Sunday (November 12).

Ms Peden’s gift for knitting has been on display before on top of the same postbox.

She created a knitted Charles and Camilla for the coronation, and also made a nurse from wool to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the NHS.
