The rankings also place the school as having the second most improved maths results nationally and the sixth most improved results nationally for students, who achieved a grade 5 or above in both English and maths. The latter placed Coleridge in the top 10 per cent of state schools in the country.

Executive principal Matt Oughton said: “All of us at Coleridge Community College are really proud of this year’s GCSE results and we are delighted to be the fourth most improved state-funded school in the country for Attainment 8, according to these provisional outcomes.

“Our excellent teams of staff work incredibly hard to ensure that students at our school have the very best chance of success and so it was hugely gratifying to see their efforts reflected in such a strong set of results over the summer.

“Looking ahead, we are excited to build on the momentum we have achieved and to continue to ensure all students at Coleridge are given the tools to achieve well and fulfil their potential.”

Attainment 8 is a measure which assesses the average achievement of students in eight GCSE-level qualifications. The school has seen a 9.2 increase in its Attainment 8 score from last year.
