Schoolboy in Burwell arrested twice in a week

Police have arrested a schoolboy twice in a week - the second time was on suspicion of public order offences.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire police said: “A 12-year-old boy was arrested on Friday (17 June) in Silver Street, Burwell, on suspicion of theft, possession of a knife and sexual assault.

“The boy has since been charged with a public order offence and theft.

“He appeared at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on Monday (20 June), where he was released on court bail to return on 29 June.

“Yesterday (Thursday, June 23) at about 6.45pm the same boy was arrested at Burwell recreation ground on suspicion of two public order offences. He remains in custody.”
