He stole items including gloves, coats, a child’s bicycle, chocolate and perfume totalling hundreds of pounds. Andrews was identified by police on CCTV and arrested.

Tyler was sentenced to two years in prison at Peterborough Crown Court on Tuesday (November 21) after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing to four counts of theft and one attempted theft.

PC Sean Feline said: “We will continue to target prolific and opportunist thieves like Andrews. These offences, although on the face of it may seem insignificant, cause misery to shopworkers. This sentence will not only give retailers in Cambridge some respite but will also make the city a safer place for shoppers this Christmas and beyond.”
