Stars charity offering bereavement support to children in Cambridgeshire marks move to Ormiston Families
A charity that offers specialist bereavement support and counselling to children in Cambridgeshire has become part of Ormiston Families.
Stars marked the move to the East of England charity with an event at Murray Edwards College in Cambridge, where guests heard from Helen Creamer, the mum of three young children who lost their father to Covid-19 in April 2020.
Their headteacher referred Helen to Stars in September 2020, and they received bereavement counselling both face to face at school and online, during lockdown.
Helen also received guidance from the Stars team on how to support her family and received regular calls from a Stars counsellor.
Charity trustee Julie Spence, the Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, welcomed guests and staff to the event on May 26, where regional manager Ann-Marie McKiernan and Ormiston Families CEO Allan Myatt also spoke.
Stars helps those aged four to 19 in Cambridgeshire experiencing difficulties following the loss of someone close to them. The charity also works closely with hospitals and Macmillan nurses to support children when they have a terminally ill parent.
