Storm Dennis will bring heavy rain and widespread strong winds to many parts of the UK, though the impacts are not expected to be as extreme as Storm Ciara last weekend.

Rain and gales are expected in the Eastern region on Saturday and Sunday and the rain will be heavy and persistent at times.

In Cambridge, winds are forecast to reach 40mph by 9am on Saturday, rising to 52mph by 2pm, and staying between 40mph and 50mph until 3pm on Sunday.

Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely, as are some short-term power cuts and loss of other services.

The strongest winds are likely to be on Saturday afternoon and evening, with a lull overnight, before increasing again during Sunday.

The strong winds will be accompanied by heavy rain at times, leading to particularly poor driving conditions.

A Met Office yellow warning for wind is in place across the Eastern region, from 10am on Saturday to 12pm on Sunday.

Due to these adverse weather conditions, the Wimpole Estate will be closed for the whole day on Saturday.
