Strikingly unusual new-build in Doddington, Cambridgeshire
A four-bedroom, three-bathroom detached residence has just come on the market with Pocock & Shaw.
Situated on Wimblington Road in Doddington – a popular village and civil parish in Fenland in Cambridgeshire, about five miles from both Chatteris and March – this marvellous home benefits from all the latest appliances, no upward chain and the availability of Help to Buy.
A unique and rather futuristic bungalow, the property is the work of experienced homebuilders Malcolm and Linda Reed, who have operated in the East Anglian region since 1997 as Malcolm Reed Construction Ltd and as Malcolm Reed Properties Ltd since 2015.
Linda states that the company prefers to build one-off homes in a more contemporary or unusual design as an alternative to the masses of designed homes which are very similar in many cases.
Malcolm is a builder by trade and Linda has had experience of working as an interior designer.
She said: “The two of us are quite good together; it’s a good combination, really.”
The architect the couple have worked with over the past few years is Dan Jones of Irvine Jones Design, a young, up-and-coming architectural practice based out in Papworth Everard.
Commenting further on 7a Wimblington Road, Linda said: “The bungalow developed into a beautiful vaulted ceiling with large windows, allowing fantastic light into the property.
“The extensive driveway can actually take seven or eight cars comfortably and has an integrated garage.
“The kitchen, dining and reception areas have large tiling with underfloor heating, as do the contemporary bathrooms.
“All the bedrooms have fitted wardrobes with carpets and the master bedroom has a walk-in wardrobe.”
Linda and her husband have recently finished yet another new-build property in Trumpington.
“It’s a very contemporary build,” she noted, “a very original design.”
There will be an open day at the property – 7a, Wimblington Road, Doddington, Cambs PE15 9EJ – on Saturday, October 14 between 11-3pm and Sunday, October 15 between 2pm-4pm. No appointments necessary.
