‘Suspicious man’ spotted taking photos of pupils outside Cambourne primary school




A Cambourne primary reported a suspicious man to police after he was spotted parked outside the school taking photographs of pupils.

Monkfield Park Primary School headteacher Annie Howell told parents in an email on Friday (22 March): “We have received reports today of a man parked outside the school in a black Jeep taking photographs of children during lunchtime.

“When this man was approached by staff he drove off.

“We have reported the incident to the police and would like to assure you that all staff remain extra vigilant.

“We have assured the children that they are safe in school and that they must report any suspicious incidents to an adult immediately.”

A Cambridgeshire police spokesperson said: “We received a report at about 1.10pm on 22 March to Monkfield Park Primary School, following a report of a suspicious incident. A member of staff had seen an unknown man appearing to take pictures of pupils in the playground. As the member of staff approached the man, he got inside a black Jeep and drove off at speed. Anyone with any information about the incident should call the police on 101, quoting incident number 230 of 22 March.”
