Three men die and two suffer serious injuries in devastating crash on A1




Three men have died following a devastating crash on the A1.

The men - aged 25, 34 and 38 - died at the scene on the northbound carriageway near Wothorpe, south of Stamford, while two people were taken to hospital, where they remain with serious injuries.

It followed a collision just before 1am on Sunday, January 16 involving a blue VW Golf, a black BMW 520D and a red Land Rover Discovery.

Cambridgeshire police said: “We are appealing for witnesses, dashcam footage or anyone who saw the vehicles in the moments leading up to the incident to get in touch. Please contact us via web chat, online forms or call 101, quoting incident 24 of 16 January.”

There was another tragic incident on the A1 northbound just before 7am on Monday morning, in which a person died following a four-vehicle crash near Sawtry.

And in Wisbech, a 19-year-old man who had been riding a red Suzuki motorbike died in a crash with a white BMW 520D at 6.45pm on Sunday, January 16.
