Trumpington Meadows games area officially opens

All-weather basketball and tennis courts, a football pitch, equipped play area and an open grass area open to the general public.

Barratt Homes, with the help of players from Cambridge United, officially opened a brand new Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) at its Trumpington Meadows development in Cambridge on the 13th February.

Trumpington Meadows is set within a beautiful country park, numerous public open spaces are located throughout the development. The new sports and play facilities are next door to Trumpington Meadows Primary School.

Robert Holbrook, Managing Director at Barratt Homes Eastern Counties said “This MUGA is just one of many milestones in the creation of this new community. We are very appreciative of the local community’s patience during the process of developing the MUGA and are delighted to celebrate the opening of this games area, which I know is already being well used by Trumpington’s residents, both young and old.”

Robert was joined by representatives of Cambridge United for the opening, including players Josh Coulson and Brad Halliday, Jez George the CEO of Cambridge United and Ben Szreter the CEO of Cambridge United Community Trust.

Ben commented: “We’re delighted that Cambridge United could be represented at the opening of these facilities which are so important for the community at Trumpington. It’s great that the residents of this development have spaces such as this to interact and play sport.”

Trumpington Meadows is one of the first developments in the UK to win the prestigious ‘Built for Life’ award. ‘Built for Life’ is an achievement of excellence and a commendation for well-designed homes. Winning this award confirms Trumpington Meadows provides an attractive, functional and overall better place to live.
