Two Cambridgeshire fairground workers charged after bouncy castle death of 7-year-old girl in Harlow

Police still seek one witness in connection to the incident.

Summer Grant, from Norwich, suffered serious injuries while on a bouncy castle in Harlow Town Park on March 26, 2016.

She was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital but sadly died a few hours later.

Shelby Thurston, 25, and William Thurston, 28, both fairground employees, of Whitecross Road, Wilburton, were arrested in connection with the investigation.

They were charged today, Thursday June 15, with manslaughter by gross negligence. They were also charged with failure to discharge a general health and safety duty under the Health and Safety at Work Act.

They are due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on July 19.

Detectives are continuing their enquiries and are trying to trace a witness who was near the fairground rides at the time of the incident. He was described as a young black man, believed to be aged in his teens.
