Two hurt as Sea Fury aircraft on flight from Duxford crashes




A pilot and passenger have been injured after a plane that left Duxford airfield crash on Tuesday afternoon (August 4).

They are understood to have suffered minor injuries after the Sea Fury was forced to make a forced landing in Harston.

The plane was left badly damaged as it came down among trees in Harston just before 4.30pm.

A statement from the Imperial War Museum Duxford said: “There has been an incident involving a Sea Fury aircraft which departed from Duxford airfield this afternoon on a routine flight.

“The aircraft had to undertake a forced landing, the pilot and passenger are receiving medical attention for minor injuries.

“The aircraft sustained significant damage and a fuel leak, an IWM Duxford fire team with specialist equipment and knowledge assisted Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service at the scene.”
