Police were called to the Co-Op, in Carter Street, Fordham, at about 1.54am today with reports of a break-in by three people, who stole cash from inside.

A second call came in at 2.32am reporting a break-in at the Co-Op, in Girton Road, Girton, where more cash was taken.

No arrests have been made and no one was injured.

Det Sgt Jonathan Lockwood, from the southern acquisitive crime team, said: “We have a team working to investigate the burglaries, which we believe are linked. We would like to hear from anyone in the area who may have CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident, those involved, or the vehicle before or after the incident, to come forward.

“We are aware this is not the first incident of its kind in the area and we understand this is very concerning for those involved and the local communities. Extra patrols are also taking place in the area.”

On 31 May, three axe-wielding robbers wearing balaclavas demanded money at the Co-op in Histon.

A day earlier, three men with balaclavas broke in to the Co-op in Little Paxton.

On 21 May, three men with their hoods up were spotted in the area of an early-hours burglary at the Co-op in Willingham.
