Body discovered after search by specialist teams

Police have confirmed that the body of a missing woman has been found in Byron’s Pool at Grantchester.

A police spokeswoman said: “Police and search and rescue have recovered a body from a lake in the Grantchester area. It is believed to be that of a missing woman. Formal ID is yet to be completed. It is not being treated as suspicious.”

Earlier, specialist search teams were called by Cambridgeshire Constabulary to cover areas in Milton and Grantchester.

The police helicopter was also scrambled and Cambridgeshire Search and Rescue asisted officers.

Police were initially called at 6.15am.
