Van driver heads on to pavement to avoid road closure in Cambourne




This van driver decided to avoid a short diversion around the road closure on Monkfield Lane, Great Cambourne - by driving up the kerb and along the pavement.

Police said: “At the time, there were several children cycling along the pavement. One had to cycle out the way of the vehicle. Today the driver is being sent a notice of intended prosecution in the post.”

The incident happened at 5.36pm at Wednesday October 7.

The closure is in place amid work on utilities for the McCarthy & Stone residential development. A diversion is in place via Jeavons Lane and High Street.
