Waiting list at Cambridge University Hospitals grows to 64,777 people

The number of people on hospital waiting lists in Cambridge is continuing to grow, an NHS trust has warned.

Latest figures from Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie hospitals, showed there were 64,777 people on the referral to treatment waiting list, after it increased by 660 in July.

This was 3,400 people more than the trust had planned for, according to a report presented to the board on 11 September 11.

It highlighted that the total national waiting list had increased in June to 7.62million.

Roland Sinker, chief executive at the trust, said tackling waiting lists was one of the “two core major areas being scrutinised” by the new government, alongside finances.

The trust is undertaking analysis on the top 10 services to determine the extent of different factors contributing to the growing list, so that it can take action.
