Watch as Cambridge drug dealer armed with gun and zombie knife is arrested
A 21-year-old Cambridge drug dealer who was caught armed with a gun and a knife has been jailed.
Neighbourhood officers were on patrol on the evening of 19 September when they spotted a man in a balaclava riding an electric pedal scooter.
The team attempted to stop the rider but he made off before discarding the scooter and attempting to run away.
After a short scuffle, officers arrested Jermaine Rowe in Argyle Street and found a zombie knife in his waistband.
He was further arrested when officers found a viable firearm and ammunition in his bag as well as two bundles of class A drugs and £2,307 in cash.
Rowe, of no fixed address, was sentenced to six-and-a-half years in prison at Cambridge Crown Court on Friday (22 November).
He pleaded guilty to possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of ammunition without a certificate, possession of a knife, possession with intent to supply class A drugs, possession of criminal property and being concerned in the supply of class B drugs at an earlier hearing.
Det Con Joanna MacKenzie said: “The length of the sentence given to Rowe reflects the severity of these crimes and potentially deadly effects these weapons can have. We are pleased that in this case, those dangerous weapons and ammunition are off the streets, preventing the devastation they can cause.
“We are committed to removing guns, knives and all dangerous weapons from our streets and putting the people who carry them before the courts.
“We also carry out regular stop searches, warrants and weapon sweeps and ensure those who store, carry and use them are brought to justice.
“If you have any information about anyone carrying or using a weapon, please contact us.”
