Winner of Saucony Cambridge Half Marathon 2018 is disqualified after taking someone else's place
Winner Andrew Rawlings never started the race.
The winner of this year’s Cambridge Half Marathon has been disqualified from the race.
Winner Andrew Rawlings never started the race, but his colleague Jack, who took his place over the 13.1 mile circuit, put in the race of a lifetime.
He beat over 7,000 runners who braved the cold on Sunday.
Although race organisers OSB Events disquallified him, and awarded the top spot to second place finisher Will Mycroft.
A spokesperson for OSB Events said: “Jack did cross the line first but as he was running under someone else’s name and number he was disqualified, under UKA rules, so he therefore has not won this years event.
“The title has gone to William Mycroft.”
Will ran in the 25-29 years age category and finished in one hour, seven minutes and 11 seconds.
Jack, 24, finished in one hour, six minutes and 52 seconds. To put that in perspective, Mo Farah won the Vitality big half-marathon in London at the weekend in one hour one minute and 40seconds.
