Held at the five-star Cambridge Country Club in Bourn, the awards began with an introduction by Ricky Allan, chief revenue officer for Cambridge Independent publisher Iliffe Media, who told the hundreds gathered: “Tonight is recognition of your hard work as well as an opportunity to celebrate all that you have achieved. You all should be extremely proud.

“Despite all the local challenges, our county’s best entrepreneurs modelled gracious professionalism, and inspired, motivated and encouraged their teams to power through and succeed regardless. Our awards tonight recognise those incredible individuals.”

Hosted by BBC Radio Cambridgeshire presenter Chris Mann, the awards were generously supported by headline sponsor Barr Ellison, the Cambridge law firm, along with wealth management and employee benefit services company Mattioli Woods, service office space provider Milton Hall, strategic business growth organisation Growth Works, motor retailer Barons Cambridge BMW, IT management and support company ILUX and The Cambridge Building Society.

There was double delight for Cambridge-based Oxwash, which has reinvented dry cleaning and laundry services by collecting from your doorstep, using low impact washing technology and then returning your items via electric cargo bikes. It won the Business of the Year (more than 50 employees) and Business Innovation categories.

Game Swap Shop UK, the Ramsey-based video game swapping platform, also won two golds - in the Best Customer Service and Community Business of the Year categories, while Oomph Ventures, which offers rapid and mobile EV charging, took gold in the Best New Business and Best Enterprising Business sections.

Domainex, the fast-growing drug discovery contract research organisation, earned gold in the High Growth category and silver in Business of the Year (more than 50 employees) category.

The Business of the Year (less than 50 employees) section was scooped by Intelligent Membranes, which also won silver in Best Enterprising Business.

And COEL, the Cambridge-based office and laboratory fit-out specialist, enjoyed gold in the Property Industry Business of the Year sponsored by Barr Ellison, while taking home a silver in the Lockdown Leader category.

There was gold for Great Shelford-based angli-EAR Hearing and Tinnitus Solutions in the Website of the Year category and it took silver for Customer Service.

It was a great night for Harry Ball, of Eaton Socon-based Elite Timber Supplies. He won Business Person of the Year, while the company earned silver in the High Growth category.

And Sue Keogh took home silver in the Business Person of the Year category, while her business, the digital marketing agency Sookio, earned gold in the Service Excellence category.

The overall winner on the night - chosen from all the gold winners - was Energise, the St Neots-based net zero consultancy, which delivers energy and carbon management for corporates, public and third sector organisations, SMEs and individuals. Energise also took home the gold award for Employer of the Year.

All the winners can be found below - and many of them will now go on to compete in the National SME Business Awards final, organised by our event partner, Events & PR.
