Adam Webster was left two runs short of a ton as Foxton Granta beat Old Leysians by nine wickets in Whiting & Partners Cambs & Hunts Premier League, Division One.

The hosts won the toss and elected to bat, but it was not until the fourth-wicket partnership that they started to build a total.

Opener Will Routledge made 36 in a 42-run stand with Milan Mniszko, who then forged a 103-run partnership with Thomas Cox (33).

Mniszko was eventually out for 71, as Old Leysians were bowled out for 175.

Raj Singh was the pick of the Foxton Granta bowlers with three for 18, off 7.2 overs.

Webster led the response as Foxton Granta reached the target for the loss of one wicket in 38 overs.

He scored an unbeaten 98, including 17 fours, and Adil Abraham made 36 not out and Dougie Rice struck 27.

Ben Leach claimed a five-wicket haul for Histon in a nine-wicket win at Stamford Town.

Histon put the hosts into bat, and made a couple of early breakthroughs.

Ben Peck (16) and Tom Williams (60) steadied the ship, but after they both fell, Leach tore through the lower order.

He finished with five for 13 off 9.3 overs as Stamford were bowled out for 130.

Histon’s openers Tom Griffiths (37) and Hari Krishna Kukreja (69 not out) almost carried them to victory as they got over the line on 131 for 1.
