Centre seeks third win in a row

Albert Portsmouth is eyeing a third scalp in a row when Cambridge host National League One leaders Coventry this Saturday (October 28).

The centre scored a try against Ampthill last weekend and, together with Jack Green’s penalty, it helped them earn an 8-7 victory, which followed their previous win over Rosslyn Park.

“The last three results show just how good this squad really is,” said Portsmouth.

“In the end, I think it was our first-half performance that won us the game – we know that as a side Ampthill only practise their exits in their own half – with a 40mph wind in your face you can’t execute those exits, and they know they’re under pressure.

“We know we’re a top six side in the making. We’ll keep building.

“Coventry next week will be exciting off the back of two wins, and two big scalps in a row against two big sides.

“So we’re really looking forward to next week and trying to make it three.”
