Alberto Morcillo double helps Cambridge United Futsal peg back leaders Reading Escolla
U's maintain unbeaten run
A late goal denied Cambridge United Futsal victory over Reading Escolla, but the 4-4 draw meant they were the first side to take points off the FA National Futsal Super League leaders.
The visitors made their way to the University of Cambridge Sports Centre having won eight games out of eight, and with a plus 36 goal difference.
Reading went into a 2-0 lead which made it look like it would be a routine win for the impressive side, but Cambridge, who had won their last three matches, had other ideas.
Monty Bouttell pulled one back for the U’s midway through the first half, but Reading restored their two-goal cushion to lead 3-1 at the break.
The U’s took control of the second half, however, and were rewarded with three quickfire goals, with two from Alberto Morcillo and one from Inaki Prado.
Cambridge held a 4-3 lead with seven minutes remaining and were defending stoutly, with keeper Jose Lima having another good game.
But they were finally undone as Reading grabbed a well-worked equaliser, and despite the visitors having a player sent off at the death, the match ended in a 4-4 draw.
The result means Cambridge are unbeaten in four games and are up to sixth in the table.
