The Perse School student goes on tour to South Africa

Alex Coles has been added to the England under-18s squad for their summer development tour of South Africa.

The Perse School student has joined former Cambridge Rugby Club team-mate Fraser Dingwall in the squad as one of four new additions.

England will play three fixtures in South Africa as part of the Under-19 International Series – against France on August 11, Wales on August 15 and South Africa Schools on August 19.

“It’s disappointing for those guys that are not coming who are injured, however, they will be back towards the early part of the season so that’s positive for them,” said England lead coach John Fletcher.

“For those players that have been called into the squad it’s also an exciting time for them and a great opportunity. They all narrowly missed out on selection and now they get their chance.”
