Andrew Bramley century steers Burwell to win over Norwich

By CambridgeIndependent Reporter

Starring role for No 3 batsman

Andrew Bramley was the hero for Burwell as they earned an invaluable victory over Norwich in the Gibbs Denley East Anglian Premier League.

The two clubs have been battling at the wrong end of the table, so a win was crucial.

Norwich won the toss and elected to bat, and William O’Donnell was the stalwart of their innings, coming in at No 3 and being the last man standing as he made 101 not out.

It helped Norwich to 205, with Sam Rippington, Josh Arksey and Jay Ghelani taking two wickets apiece.

After Burwell lost a wicket with just one run on the board, Bramley came in to bat and was the sixth wicket to fall, but by that time he had scored 110 and helped Burwell to 204.

And Jamie Seabrook (24 not out) and Ayden Brown (4 not out) carried Burwell over the line to victory.

Cambridge Granta and Swardeston had to settle for seven points apiece as their match at Clare College was abandoned because of the rain.

This Saturday sees Burwell play host to Cambridge Granta at Mingay Park.
