Angel Martinez and Monty Bouttell on hat-trick trail with Cambridge United Futsal

By CambridgeIndependent Reporter

Victory earned over London City

Angel Martinez and Monty Bouttell combined to help get Cambridge United Futsal back to winning ways in the FA National Futsal Super League.

Their nine-match unbeaten run had come to an end the previous week against Genesis, so they were eager to get back up and running on the victory trail.

Visitors London City sat one place behind United in the table going into the game, and the sides had shared a 3-3 draw earlier in the season, thanks to a last-minute strike from the U’s Toby Hardwick.

Martinez and Bouttell struck early to give United a 2-0 lead, but they lost some of their usual intensity to be pegged back to 2-2 by half time.

London started the second half stronger and took the lead, but United responded immediately, with Bouttell getting a second and Paulo Rodrigues making it 4-3. It was soon 5-3 when Martinez got his second.

London pulled one back, but Martinez and Bouttell then both completed their hat-tricks as the U’s went 7-4 ahead.

The visitors did pull back two late goals, but United held on for victory to move one point behind third-placed Birmingham.

They are away to York City this Sunday (March 4) on the start of four successive games on the road.
