Histon one point adrift of United Counties League Premier Division South play-offs after Northampton ON Chenecks victory
A Connor Barnes double secured Histon a 2-0 win over Northampton ON Chenecks this afternoon.
The Stutes headed into today’s United Counties League Premier Division South clash sitting in ninth place with a four-point gap to the play-offs.
However, while Chris Nunn’s men remain in the same position, Barnes’ brace means that the gap to the top five is down to three points ahead of back-to-back away games at March Town United and Coventry United.
Visiting Chenecks had Sam McBride red carded following an off-the-ball incident during the first half and Histon eventually made their numerical advantage count just before the break when Barnes fired into the top corner of the net.
And Histon’s leading goalscorer went on to make the outcome safe 13 minutes from the end – this time with a shot into the bottom corner.
Histon are a single point adrift of the three sides directly above them – Daventry, Chenecks and Eynesbury Rovers – with Hinckey currently occupying the last of the four play-off positions.
