Ben Penfold makes Birmingham Moseley pay the penalty as Cambridge win in National League One
Ben Penfold kicked Cambridge to a 13-12 win over Birmingham Moseley at Volac Park in National League One.
The visitors, who are battling to beat the drop, went ahead in the eighth minute through Ben Palmer’s try, which the fly-half also converted.
Cambridge hit back eight minutes later as Joe Tarrant touched down and Penfold converted.
The arm wrestle continued as Morgan Tonks touched down for Birmingham Moseley to give them a 12-7 lead after 43 minutes.
However, Penfold landed successful penalties in the 59th and 64th minutes to put Cambridge 13-12 ahead.
Daniel Wright was red carded for foul play late in the game for Birmingham Moseley as Cambridge got back to winning ways after two defeats on their travels.
They are now ninth in the table, but are without a game this Saturday (March 14) and are back in action away to Darlington Mowden Park on Saturday, March 21.
Meanwhile, Tarrant and centre Matt Hema have re-signed for Cambridge for next season.
