Brad Baker and James Mepham touched down two tries apiece as Shelford stretched their unbeaten run to four matches with a 33-15 win at Woodford in London League 1N.

They opened the scoring after eight minutes, with Baker running through after some good work at the ruck. Lewis Cracknell added the conversion.

From an attacking 5m line-out, Woodford got themselves back into the game with an unconverted try in the corner.

Shelford went nine points clear when Tukzz Naulusala was tackled just short of the line, but scrum-half Mepham pounced to ground the ball and Cracknell converted.

Woodford cut the deficit to two points, 14-12, at half time with a converted try.

Ten minutes into the second half, Naulusala’s break was recycled for Tom Duffy to touch down, and Cracknell’s extras made it 21-12.

Woodford landed a penalty, but Shelford went back up the other end for Baker to break a couple of tackles to get his second try, making it 26-15.

Shelford completed their win as play was recycled for Mepham to snipe over for his second try, with Cracknell kicking the conversion.
