Cambridge Parnells celebrate memorable season with Awards Night
Cambridge Parnells brought the curtain down on a breakthrough 2022 campaign with their first annual Awards Night at the Rathmore Club.
Playing and non-playing members, along with families and friends, came together to celebrate a transformative few months, with the club having become one of the most competitive in the area.
Joe Bradley took home the main prize – Players’ Player of the Year – after topping the squad vote.
The Derryman joined the club at the start of the year and became an integral member of the team.
Imperious under the high ball, the hard-running and tough-tackling midfield player was an ever-present for the Parnells across league, cup, and championship matches.
Handing out the trophy, club chairman Cormac Ryan said: “We had a lot of new players join this year but, more than anyone, Joe was emblematic of our change in fortunes. He is a force of nature and a great man to have on our side.”
Player-manager and full-back John Hickey came in second in the voting, followed by top-scoring forward Luke Duffy.
Hickey, meanwhile, was tasked with selecting his Manager’s Player of the Year and he opted for midfielder Cormac Breen.
Over the course of the championship season Breen contributed 13 points, which attracted the attention of Hertfordshire inter-county manager Eamon Devlin.
Cambridge resident Emma Loftus won the Ladies’ Player of the Year prize, while public relations officer Joe O’Neill was named Club Member of the Year.
