Cambridge United boss Neil Harris hails ‘brilliant’ Sullay Kaikai after bright start to 2025/26 season
Cambridge United head coach Neil Harris has heaped praise on Sullay Kaikai – a player that he believes is good enough to ply his trade in the Championship.
The attacker has been United’s most productive attacker during the opening three games of the new season having played a leading role in four of the five goals that have been scored so far.
And he also enjoyed a bright period of form in Harris’ first spell in charge of the U’s, with two of his three goals in the 2023/24 season – as well as a pair of assists – coming across that brief 14-game tenure.
Overall it has been a mixed couple of campaigns for Kaikai with the U’s in terms of output since he rejoined the club in the summer of 2023, but the numbers would suggest that he thrives under Harris’ guidance.
Asked how he is able to get the best out of the 29-year-old, Harris said: “I think he’s brilliant, I really do. I can’t believe he’s not playing in the Championship or been playing in the Championship – that’s how good I think he is.
“He’s a cracking lad that needs a little bit of TLC at times, just to remind him how good he is.
“He’s certainly got my support, as you can tell. He knows he has to earn it every day and he has to continue doing that to keep my backing.
“But any time for me he’s been outstanding. I can only judge on what I see and he’s been instrumental in my time in charge over two spells and I want it to stay like that.”
