Sam Rippington's half-century in vain for Burwell & Exning in East Anglian Premier League

The wagging tail of Burwell & Exning was not enough to set up a victory in the Read Brothers Ltd East Anglian Premier League as they lost by six wickets to Swardeston.

Opener Tom Jagot was left high and dry at the top of the order as his partners came and went, and by the time he was dismissed for 45, Burwell & Exning were 88 for 6.

It then saw the lower order get to work as Sam Rippington hit 51 and Ed Manning made 37 not out as Burwell & Exning were eventually dismissed for 202.

However, Peter Lambert’s 71 not out and an unbeaten 47 from Lewis Denmark saw Swardeston home with 206 for 4.

Ben Claydon returned to haunt Cambridge as they lost by 45 runs to Copdock & Old Ipswichian.

The former Cambridge opener made 44 and, with Alex Oxley’s 54, it steered Copdock to 183 for 7. Captain Lewys Hill claimed three for 21.

Claydon then mopped up the Cambridge tail with three for 19 as they were bowled out for 138. Opener Kieren Mackenzie top scored with 38.
